Being it’s Throwback Thursday, we decided to take a look back at some library renovation projects we’ve done over the years. The project we selected was completed at Teaneck High School in Teaneck, NJ. We worked with DMR Architects – http://www.dmrarchitects.com/ from Hasbrouck Heights, NJ to take their Media Center into the 21st Century.
The furniture for this renovation project was purchased through the ESCNJ (Educational Services Commission of New Jersey) , which offers both quality and fair pricing.
The three-story brick building was built in the early 1920’s and is roughly 228,000 square feet. With a growing district, space had become a challenge. In order to tackle this comprehensive renovation, a phasing plan was needed to keep the disruptions to the school activities at a minimum.
While working jointly with both DMR and the Teaneck School District, we conducted an extensive space utilization and programming study of the existing library to assist us in developing a short-term construction plan. Included in the renovation was the rearranging of existing office walls, new lighting, carpeting and a complete new furniture layout.
The district and DMR favored a blend of contemporary designs that were functional, but yet hi-tech. BCI Modern Library Furniture’s vast selection of custom and standard furnishings provided the solution. The materials such as frosted glass, warm maple wood and the hi-tech look of perforated steel, gave this project beautiful results!
BCI Modern Library has an endless amount of standard and custom furnishings that will enhance any new or renovation project. Contact us today for more information on how we can assist you in the design and planning process for your new library – we look forward to speaking with you.
